Heads of Hope FAQ’s

When can I pick up my packet?

Packets will be available the day of the race starting at 8 a.m.

Where do I park the day of the event?

Parking will be available at any of the school lots the day of the event. Optimal parking will be near the track, as that is where the majority of the events take place.

Will refreshments be available?

Yes, there will be one water station on the course. There will be water, fruit, chocolate milk, granola bars, etc. at the concession stand after the race.

What else will be available the day of the event?

We will have multiple tables set up from different vendors, face painting, a bounce house, live music by The Stray Dogs and VinTriHill and more.

What information is available on the teacher run?

Join us at about 8:45 on the track to cheer on your favorite teacher.  10 teachers are competing in a 100 meter dash. And you can help your favorite teacher win! Donations boxes for each teacher will be available at lunch and at packet pick-ups.

Highest fundraising teacher will get a 20 meter advantage at the start line. The teacher

with the fewest donations will compete with a “dizzy bat” disadvantage. And the teacher with the most $1 bills gets to send the teacher of their choice 10 meters back from the start line!

What time do I need to arrive at the 5K?

We HIGHLY recommend you arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time.  This allows your runner to warm up, use the bathroom, and not be stressed about getting to the starting line.

Are there bathrooms at the 5K?

Yes – there are a few port-a-pots as well as bathrooms near our concession stand.

Will there be people on the course to guide me?

Yes – we have many volunteers who want to see you have the best 5K.  Please listen and watch for directions from these wonderful volunteers.

Is this a closed course?

The course is on the school campus and never goes out into the road or a parking lot.

I forgot my bib, can I get another one?

No. Please do not forget your bib. If you do not have a bib, your time will not be taken.

Where is the start line?

Please review the course map for the start/finish line or ask a volunteer when you arrive at the race site.

Where can the map be found?

The map of the course is as follows:

Tips & Tricks for a fun and safe 5K

  1. Always look straight ahead.  When we turn around to find our friends this is usually when we trip and fall – so always look where you are going.

  1. Tie your shoes.  Tripping over shoelaces is avoidable. Be sure to check your shoes before you run.

  1. Be courteous of other runners.  For example, if someone needs to pass you move to the side to let them by.  Slow down if you are coming up behind someone, to avoid clipping their heels.  It is always best to be aware of others when running.

  1. Move over at the water stop.  If you need water, move over towards the water table to get a cup. Those who do not need water will pass you on the left and this will help avoid any collisions.

  1. Listen to the volunteers.  These volunteers are on the course to provide direction and instruction. Always listen when they tell you to slow down on a tight turn or to stay to the left because there is 2-way traffic.  This information will allow you to stay safe.

  1. Always review the course map.

  1. Prepare for the weather.  Check the weather the night before and have options at the ready. Layers are always a great idea.

  1. Always remain on the course.  Never take a detour or try to cut corners – going off the course can lead to injury – be smart and safe and remain on the 5K course.

This is a fun run intended to foster inclusion and a sense of community. In that spirit, we will not be acknowledging age group awards. A friendly reminder that t-shirts are guaranteed to runners who registered prior to May 17th.
